Well, I was on facebook today and I started talking with my friend Jen, who is a fellow author and has been published once before by an agent.
The main reason I went to smashwords was because I did some research back when I finished the rough draft of the Dark Realm back in August 2010 and there were not many agents that were 1, accepting queries for young adult fantasy, and 2, accepted email queries. Now, apparently, the world has changed drastically. The market is hard up for some good young adult books and the new digital age and green movment has spurnned on a whole bunch of agents opening thier doors to email submissions.
Armed with this new information, I have set to work on getting as many query letters that I can out there so I can get picked up by an agent and get my book out to the big name publishers. Including but not limited to, Scholasitc (Publishers of Harry Potter), Little Brown (Twilight) and St. Martin Press (House of Night).
Unfortunately, that means while I am looking I will have to take the book down from Smashwords and Lulu so that they don't think I am plagerizing anything. If any of you want to buy the book before I take them down let me know and I will be happy to leave it up until you can do so. If I do not hear from anyone by morning on June 3rd, I will take them down until such a time that it becomes a last resort and I am confident that no agent is interested in my work.
I hope you all understand that I am only doing this because I want what is best for my work so that it reaches as many people as possible and from what I have seen and researched the best way to achieve that is by going through an agent to be represented to the major book companies.
Thank you for sticking with me through all of this. The book will be out soon, I promise. I am done writing it, I just need to get it properly promoted by a professional.
